Q:
How are AmeriSciences' products different from the ones that I buy at the drugstore
or health food store?
A:
Formulating a truly effective nutritional supplement is not a matter of simply
placing high doses of vitamins and minerals into every product. You won’t
find individual ingredients (such as vitamin A or C) or a range of strengths
in the AmeriSciences® product line either. Each product is targeted to address
a specific health issue (such as weight loss, cardio-vascular health, or eye
health) and contains the optimal dosage of ingredients to address that issue
based on the latest available science. The interplay of quality ingredients
in combinations based on the latest scientific research is the only way to ensure
that your body will retain a product’s nutrients and utilize them in a
manner that optimizes their potential benefits.
Q: Can I take more than one product?
A: AmeriSciences formulations have been developed as a family of system-specific
products and may be taken together in a variety of combinations as a comprehensive
nutritional system customized to your unique situation.. Over-doses are very
unlikely and have never been reported. However, consulting in advance with your
physician is always recommended before adding a new product to your daily regimen.
Q:When will I start to feel the positive effects?
A: The answer to this question varies greatly from product to product and from
patient to patient as everyone’s nutritional status and body composition
is unique. While certain products are intended to offer a relatively immediate
effect, others may take a few days or a few weeks to provide noticeable results.
Still other products, such as those featuring antioxidant properties, may produce
long-term benefits that you might never “feel”.
Q: How does the price compare with products I
can buy elsewhere?
A: The old adage “you get what you pay for” often proves true when
it comes to the purchase of nutritional supplements. Cheap or heavily discounted
products widely available “off the shelf” or over the internet are
usually inexpensive due to their low, food-grade quality that supplies your
body with minimal nutrients and, therefore, minimal results. These products
are not required to undergo any quality control measures, which makes it impossible
to know what you are getting. All AmeriSciences products are manufactured and
tested to standards higher than over 99% of the products available today. There
are less expensive products on the market but, in terms of quality, safety and
effectiveness, no better value.

Q: I've heard that taking beta-carotene is a risk to smokers. Is TOZAL specially formulated to be safe for a smoker?
A: TOZAL was formulated to address the risk of lung cancer among smokers receiving supplemental beta-carotene by focusing on beta-carotene derived from whole foods (which have not been associated with an increased risk of lung cancer). The TOZAL supplement contained 18,640 IU of natural beta-carotene and 10,000 IU of vitamin A.
Q: Vitamin A can be toxic at high doses. Is the level of Vitamin A in TOZAL safe?
A: Although high doses of Vitamin A can potentially be toxic with prolonged intake, TOZAL's 10,000 IU have been found to be safe even with extended intake. TOZAL was formulated with a combination of beta-carotene and true Vitamin A for several reasons. As a person ages, they reduce their ability to convert beta-carotene into Vitamin A so TOZAL was formulated with this in mind. Also, Lutein reduces the absorption of beta-carotene, therefore a supplement that includes Lutein benefits by having Vitamin A to compensate for the negative impact on beta-carotene absorption. As with all products formulated by AmeriSciences, safety is always the first consideration.
Q: What about the risk of mortality from high doses of Vitamin E?
A: A recent analysis has questioned the safety of high doses of Vitamin E. Due to the concerns of people regarding Vitamin E, the level was reduced from the original AREDS formula of 400 IU to 200 IU.
Q: Are there any side effects of taking TOZAL?
The most common adverse event was gastro intestinal upset, usually in subjects who had not followed the prescribed procedure of taking the supplement concurrent food intake. After adjusting their treatment schedule to always administering the nutritional supplement with food, the majority of these issues were resolved. Overall, the researchers conclude that there does not appear to be any significant adverse events related to the nutritional supplement. To avoid urinary tract problems and anemia that were encountered in the AREDS study, the dosage of zinc was reduced from 80mg to 69.6mg. No urinary tract adverse events or anemia were reported during the TOZAL trial.

Q: How is Omega Max different from what is on the store shelves?
A: One of the main differences is that the store omega-3 products are largely not pharmaceutical grade and there are very little tests on the quality of the product. With concerns about mercury and other dangerous toxins, it is advisable to avoid low quality fish oil and certainly not take them in large quantity. Another difference is that the store fish oils tend to have very low concentrations of the actual omega-3 active ingredients (EPS & DHA). it would take a much larger quantity of gelcaps to equal the levels found in a serving of AmeriSciences Omega Max.
Q: Are thre other quality issues with the fish oils on the store shelves?
A:Yes. A recent review of over-the-counter fish oil found a surprising number of products included rancid fish oil. you would not know by taking the gelcaps as they dissolve in your stomach, but rancid fish oil has obvious health concerns as well as not providing effective doses of the active ingredients.
